A New Decade

Everyone proclaimed it would be a new decade and were touting it as the beginning of the roaring 20's.  Little did we know how much 2020 would roar.  Time will be forever marked as before Covid and post Covid.  The truth is the beginning of the year was pretty un-eventful.

Here are just a few pre-covid highlights:

  • Mahomes/Mo our new puppy turned our world upside down.  He completely disrupted our routine.  I had become pretty accustomed to only worrying about myself in the mornings and suddenly there was a little guy who needed to be fed, let out, and cleaned up after when he had an accident.   Then there were the nights... When we put him in his kennel, he would bark so Baylor decided he could sleep with him.  That didn't work out well either.  He kept Baylor up most nights--wimpering and moving around. I finally decided it was time to put him in his kennel and just listen to him mark. After all, the cry it out method had worked for the kids.  He was pretty stuborn an d barked to the point that we ended up getting ear plugs so we could sleep for a few nights.  However, after a few nights the barking became less and less.  Eventually, Mo wormed his way into our room or more like Rick couldn't bear to have his puppy in the kennel so decided he should sleep with us.  For me,  it was not  love at first sight with this pup, but he eventualy found his way into my heart.
  • It was a time of wins!  Wrestling won another State Championship and the Kansas City Cheifs won the superbowl.
  • We planned our summer vacation and booked a trip to Jamacia.   Rick even planned us a getaway for Spring Break to Branson.
  • My word for the year was Trust.  Little did I know how much this word would be so important to this uncertan year.  In February, Grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer and treatment at her age would not be an option.
