Father/Daughter Dance

Delaney couldn't have been more excited to attend her first school dance and she had a blast.

What I like most about this dance is her date. I wonder if we can keep it this way?

Dance, baseball, softball, soccer...Oh My!

Baylor wasn't interested in playing baseball this season. He's mentioned several times over the past year that he was interested in playing soccer. After seeing him take an even stronger interest in soccer the past few weeks, we decided it was time to let him give it a try. Sign-ups and the season have been under way for the past two weeks, but to our surprise a friend had an opening, so we were able to get him on a team. After two practices, he played in his first game today. He did remarkably well, considering it was his first game. He had a blast and even scored a goal. I have to say, the boy has been blessed with the gift of speed and soccer just may be the sport that he can really use it to his advantage. Most of all, we were just so excited to see him be proud and confident of his abilities.
He is just beyond thrilled that this is "his" thing and he's not sharing the spotlight and/or competing with his brother. Obviously, it's been easier on us to have the boys play the same sport and be on the same team, but we know they are individuals and we want them to each feel successful. For Baylor, that means pursuing something of his own without Jax.

I thoroughly enjoy watching my children in whatever they are involved in. However, if my head spins between now and the end of May, everyone will know why. I am just thankful that we live in a small town and practice fields are close to one another.

POPS

A few weeks ago, a co-worker mentioned POPs located on Route 66 in Arcadia as a good place to take the kids. At the time, I hadn't ever heard of it, but since then I've had several friends mention it. I thought this would be a good summer adventure, but since we actually had a free Saturday, it turned out to be a great day for a little road trip.

We purchased a six pack of soda, for a nice inflated priced, so the kids were able to choose two pops each from the hundreds of soda offerings. Jax could hardly wait to try his sour cherry and sour apple. Ick... I feel sick just thinking about it.

The kids clowned around while we waited for a table. It's incredibly busy for a diner located in the middle of no where.

I'm not a soda drinker so that wasn't all that impressive to me. However, they do serve up a pretty mean cheeseburger. On the ride home, Jax enjoyed his sour apple soda, proclaiming it be " sour but the best pop ever."

Spring Break

I can't believe it's Friday! Time sure flies when you are having fun. We have thoroughly enjoyed a little "spring" in our break this year. I completed the usual task of sorting through spring clothes and switching out the kids winter to spring/summer wardrobe, but beyond that, I haven't managed to accomplish much.

I won't be winning any parenting awards with this one but we've never made it a top priority to teach the kids to ride their bikes. Last spring, we spent a day working with the kids and Delaney picked it up fairly easily, but the boys just didn't catch on. Since, they've been un-interested in trying and we really didn't make any real attempt. So, this was at the top of my "to do" list for Spring Break. Although, the conditions were hardly optimal with all the wind, I convinced Jax to give it a shot on Wednesday. Once he was on, he was determined and within about 10 minutes, he was riding. Baylor had zero interest in giving it a try, along with a very long list of reasons why he didn't want to learn, nor did he CARE!

However, on Thursday, I convinced him to give me ten tries. Once I had him on his bike, he was also determined- very frustrated a few times-but determined. So, now I have three bike riders and all they want to do is ride their bikes. I may never accomplish anything indoors.

I offered to take them several places but unless it involved ice cream, they were perfectly content to just hang out at the house.

What does it mean when your kids begin telling you to take their picture and put it on the blog?

Today, we met some friends at the zoo, but we sure missed Mr. Sunshine. It was even a little chilly. All in all, we can't complain. It's been a terrific spring break with my kiddos.

The big 4-0!

While, Rick may have turned 40, he certainly doesn't act like it. On the same day that I threw him a party, he helped coach four softball games and pitched three of those games. He's still young!
We celebrated his birthday with friends and family. Unfortunately, I was busy socializing so the evening escaped me without many photos.

The following weekend, we celebrated with the kids. I meant to get a picture with Rick and the kids. Unfortunately, that picture ended up on Rick's iPhone. So, all I have are some single shots.

Diva's Play Ball!

Wow, it's been a crazy few weeks so I'm far behind in posting. The first weekend in March, which happened to be very windy and cold, Delaney played four softball scrimmage games back to back. She was a real trooper and didn't mind the wind and cold. I, on the other hand, who only sat through 2 games, can't say I handled it as well. I didn't even bother to take pictures so it's a good thing I snapped a few that morning.
