Game Days in Stillwater

We were fortunate enough to spend four weekends in Stillwater. This year, we added tailgating to our game day fun and I think the kids and I probably enjoy tailgating as much as we enjoy the game.  It's an opportunity to spend the day enjoying the beautiful fall outdoors, hanging out with friends, family and of course snacking on good food all day.  The day just seems to fly by.  While the season is not over, last Saturday was the last home game.  It was a little sad knowing we won't do it again until next fall.

I Heart #9 & #22

The boys enjoyed another football season even though they continue to be some of the smallest guys on the field.  Their team qualified for the playoffs, shutting out their first two opponents, winning their third play off game by a point in overtime, and then were defeated in the final four playoff game by two points in the last two minutes of the game.   Without a doubt it was an exciting week of  3rd grade football! 

 

 

I was without a camera for most of the fall so I didn't get many pictures. In our first playoff game, we were matched up against Sand Springs so instead of watching the cousins play ball in the yard, we got to see them play on the field.  I think I prefer to just watch them play for fun in the yard!

Halloween

Halloween like most things these days seemed to creep up on us.  In September, I had to dress as a nerd for a dress up day at school, so early on Delaney decided to be a nerd for Halloween. On the other hand, the boys had a difficult time this year and I also wasn't feeling all that inspired.  A few weeks prior to Halloween, I found a Navy Seal costume at the Wal-Mart in Sand Springs.  I took a picture, and showed it to the boys.  Bingo! We had a winner!  Because of fall break, I didn't return to Sand Springs the following week, but I did managed to hit three other Wal-Marts, only to find no sign of the Navy Seal costume.  By the time, I finally made it back to Sand Springs, costumes were in limited supply.  Not thrilled but at the same time unwilling to go costume shopping, they agreed to be an Army man.  At the last minute though, I was inspired by a Pinterest photo.  Jax kept saying, "I want to be something where I can change costumes and get more candy." 
Obviously, he gets more than enough candy wearing just one costume, but I thought this costume would be perfect for him.  I approached both of the boys with the idea. Baylor wanted no part of it.  At first, Jax was a bit hesitant but then he agreed.  Best of all, his costume didn't cost me a penny and I think he made a pretty cute little hobo.  He was very pleased.

 

As usual, we enjoyed a our share of Halloween events. 

 

And boys... be thinking, what you want to be for next year. It will be here again before we know it.

Birthday #9

It was time for a change; the kids didn't want another swim party and I couldn't blame them so we decided on skating this year.  I just couldn't believe we were celebrating another birthday!  Time needs to slow down.

Football & Tailgating

It's been that kind of a weekend.  Thursday, I attended the 8th grade football game to watch my students and then on Friday night, several of the SFBA teams got together before the first High School game to tailgate before heading to the game.  Even though, it was really the boys tailgate party with their team, I managed to only get a picture of the girls.  The boys were way to busy running around playing tag.

 

The day that we had been awaiting for finally arrived-College Kickoff and our first real tailgate experience.  To get a good spot, we left the house at 8:20, making it to Stillwater around 9:45 to stake our claim.  This made for a long, but fun day, with the exception of the afternoon heat.

We attended the pep rally and the kids got their picture taken with the cheerleaders. The boys were very reluctant to have their photo with the girls. In fact, Jax refused. Oh, how he will regret that decision one day.

 

At this point in the day, it was super hot.  We were melting down but we cheered on the players at the walk and then everyone was all smiles for a picture with Bullett.
