Christmas Vacation

The week between Christmas and New Years is quickly becoming one of my favorite weeks of the year.  It feels like a mini-vacation from the outside world, where I can enjoy catching up on a few house hold projects, hanging out with the kids, and not worry as much that I just wasted hours of time playing, reading, or just being pure lazy.

We ventured out to catch a few movies and met some friends for a day of roller skating.  It had been a long time since the boys had been and at first they spent more time on the ground than actually skating, but they didn't give up and were skating rather well by the time we left-three hours later.

Watching your kids fall & fall & fall is realy hard as a parent but you also know sometimes they just have to learn on their own.

Project: Table painted
This is where we spent a majority of our vacation.  In September, we purchased a new sofa for upstairs and I spent part of break hanging a few pictures, making our space a little more homey. I still have another wall to tackle but it was a good start.  It's so nice to be able to spread out, yet cuddle up together. We spent lots of time reading, playing games, and watching the kids favorite television show, "Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader?"  I'm sure a tropical vacation or vaction to even the mountains would be exciting but I'm perfectly happy in saying I wouldn't change a thing.

Ringing in 20-12

We rang in the new year once again with the Taylors.  The kids had a great time playing with friends and couldn't wait to have some sparkling grape juice at midnight & blow their party horns.  The firework show was cancelled due to wind but apparently my kids didn't get the memo because they had on their coats ready to go.
