Almost Christmas

Christmas is almost here and the kiddos are ready! They visited Santa at Wal-mart a few weeks ago. As Delaney approached Santa, she said , "Santa, do you remember me from last year?"
Everyone told Santa what they wanted. Santa also dropped by their school. Jax said, "Santa came all the way to Broken Arrow!"

Santa Request:
Delaney- Dora "fixin hair"
Jax- Squawking McCaw
Baylor- Mac

It's been an eventful few days. Friday evening Jax began to run a very high fever . Saturday, it continued to spike every few hours to 104 so we took him to Urgent Care and he had a sinus infection. So, the good news was he wasn't contagious and the other two wouldn't be sick soon. He's still fighting a bit of a fever but he should be better after another round of antibiotics tonight.

Delaney has rearranged the presents under the tree so many times that one of hers is beginning to rip and yesterday I caught Baylor trying to take a peek. I yelled, Baylor and scared him half to death.

No "Electry"

Even with a cold house, I had to remind Jax to keep his clothes on!

"I just want some carkoons!"

We returned home last Sunday afternoon to find our home without power or as the kids say, we had no "electry". An ice storm had caused major damage to power lines. The entire town was without power. It was an eventful week. The kids spent a couple of evenings at their Nana's since her house was a bit warmer. Our house dipped down to about 57 degrees at night. During the day we tried heating with the stove and the upstairs was staying at around 65 and even made it up to 74 once. The kids camped out upstairs since it was warmer. Delaney ended up sleeping with Rick and I. She hates the dark and typically sleeps with a light. Even sleeping with us in bed, she would wake up screaming, "mama, mama". Tuesday, we hooked up a generator which provided some light and a couple of stations on television as the satellite was out. Wednesday after an eventful evening of smoke alarms going off, Rick had our fire logs installed which helped to keep the house a bit warmer. Thursday, we could see a utility crew in our neighborhood. We decided to run to Owasso and have dinner. Delaney ate a bit too much jello and began to complain of a tummy ache. We made it home and as soon as she stood from her car seat, she became the exorcist. We had to clean her up and the car in the dark. In the middle of all that drama, power was finally restored in the nick of time as we really needed the washer. The kids were so excited to sleep in their own beds. Everyone went to bed without a fight. Slowly, life is becoming a little bit more normal.

Thanksgiving in Iowa

Everyone was much happier after a stop at McDonalds!

This Thanksgiving was a little different than most. For the first time, we traveled to Iowa to be with Uncle Rusty. Uncle Rusty was released from the hospital two days before Thanksgiving which was a treat. We had Thanksgiving with Daddy's Uncle Ron & Aunt Bonnie.

We left Wednesday around 10:00 a.m. About 40 minutes into the car ride, Delaney was the first to say, "are we there yet?, when are we going to be there?"
We told her that Uncle Ron and Aunt Bonnie lived in a "land far, far and away". Of course, Delaney was full of questions the entire trip. About 5 hours into the trip, Jax said he missed home! We passed time by watching lots of movies, singing, and playing flash cards. We arrived around 5 that evening. We stayed in the basement of UncleRon and Aunt Bonnie's. Thanksgiving morning, Delaney woke up with a tummy ache. She's had them often so I didn't really think much about it. We gave her a bath and she felt better but a about ten minutes later she turned into the exorcist. Luckily, after that she was fine. She must have just had an upset stomach that morning. She ate her dinner and kept asking Uncle Ron, when it would be time for pumpkin pie. Later that evening, we went to Aunt Laura's hotel and went swimming. Baylor even jumped in the pool and went under water. Considering your nap time was very limited the past few days, everyone was pretty good. There were a few melt downs but that was to be expected. Traveling home, we had to make one extra stop for Baylor to use the potty. When we finally arrived back in Skiatook, Delaney said, "I thought I would never see this world!" Everyone, especially Jax was so happy to be home!

Thankful for...
Delaney- mommy & daddy

Long Car Rides!

Sunday afternoon:
Jax: Mama, I love you so much and everyday and when I love you so much everyday, my heart is SO happy!

Traveling to a birthday party yesterday evening:
The kids are complaining about the ride taking so long. I explained that we were getting close but the party was in Broken Arrow. Delaney and Baylor started telling me how much they missed the "old" house and how they wished they lived by their friends. Delaney said, "when can we live there? when those people leave our house?"
I said I didn't know but they would just have to pray about it. A few minutes down the road I hear Baylor and Delaney each praying:
Dear God, please let those people leave our old house so we can live....
Then, I heard Jax: Dear God, I wish for strong muscles.
A minute later, Jax: mom, my wish came true, my muscles are SO strong!

Next, we are looking for the house number to the birthday party. I'm trying to make it a game and told them to look for the house number. We arrive and Jax says, "mom, you did it!!! And, you didn't even need, Dad."

Shots!!!

On Wednesday, I took everyone for their four-year old check-up. I knew they would be getting all of the required shots for school next year. Everyone last received shots at the age of two so they didn't really remember what it felt like. We had tried to prepare everyone all week. We said that the shots would hurt just a little. We also said if you were brave kiddos, we would go purchase a new movie. Overall, everyone was excited about going to the Doctor. Jax was excited to show Dr. Morgan his muscles and how strong he was.
Jax was a whopping 41 inches tall, while Delaney & Baylor were 40.5 inches. Jax thinks that half an inch is a really big deal because he is the tallest! I can't remember exact weights but Delaney was 37 pounds, Jax was 36 pounds and Baylor weighed in at 35.8 pounds. I was shocked that Baylor weighed the least. The boys are 50% percentile for weight and height. Delaney was ranked 50th percentile for height and 75 percentile for weight. This is the opposite of what she ranked at three.
When it was time for shots, Jax insisted on being first. The nurse had Delaney and Baylor go up to the front of the office and hang out with the receptionist and pick out some stickers. Jax was brave. The first two sticks were not too bad but the third and fourth had him in tears. His cry always breaks my heart. I was telling him he wouldn't have to do that again for a while. He still had some tears running down his cheeks as he walked out to join sister and brother. As soon as he saw Baylor he said, "Actually, Baylor, it does hurt".
Delaney decided to go next. We had to follow birth order. She never cried but whined and kept saying ouch, ouch, ouch! She was a trooper. As soon as I laid Baylor down he began to fight me and say " I don't want to lay down". He cried and screamed some. When he was finished, he said in true Baylor fashion with a scowl on his face, "I NOT doing this again. I NOT come to the doctor."
When Daddy got home and said he had heard that everyone was brave, Baylor replied, "I NOT brave. It hurt me!

Halloween

Baylor wasn't much into playing games at the carnival. He only wanted popcorn!

Friday, we attended Spookoroo, Saturday we attended a Trunk or Treat, and Sunday we attended the annual Good Guy Carnival at our church. Tuesday you wore your costume at school and had a party. Finally, on Halloween we made the rounds to family and then hit a neighborhood for treating. You did well. You got lots of candy for Daddy! This year though you are monitoring your candy supply.

We are now ready for the next holiday. The Toys R Us Catalog arrived a week ago. Since then Baylor has been carrying it everywhere faithfully. His copy was a little ragged so he tradeed it in and stole a fresh copy from Nana's. He is set on getting "Mac" (a Car's truck). He likes a lot of things but this seems to have caught his eye. When he wakes up, this is the first thing he looks for.
So far Jax has really not shown interest in anything. He' s just not a toy lover. Delaney has mentioned a few things she would like Santa to bring her. The top of her list is anything to do with make-up!

Pumpkin Patch in Owasso

I took you to a small pumpkin patch in Owasso a few weeks ago, and then you went with school the other day. I wanted to get some nice pictures but you weren't very cooperative with the picture taking that day.

I was very worried about you guys going to the pumpkin patch with school. I was afraid you would get lost. So, Nana put a note in each of your pockets with my name phone number in case you were lost. I guess Jaxon thought he was lost at one point. Candice was about five feet from him, but he couldn't see her so he pulled out his note and started yelling, "Candice, Candice".

You guys are so excited about Halloween. Baylor just can't wait until his "hoscume" arrives.

Funny Moments

So, we finally had the "stranger danger" talk with the kids. We began by asking what would you do if someone you didn't know asked you to get into a car and so on....We finally got you to say the correct answer "scream and run the other way".
Then we ask, " So, if someone you don't know says, hey want some candy? What do you say? Jaxon replied with a smile, "please"!

Yesterday, Baylor was throwing a major fit about going to get his hair cut. We were in the car and Baylor would say "I don't want a hair cut". I had already explained that little boys have to get their hair cut, but he was very insistent so I just started replying, " okay, Baylor, I hear you.
A little later Delaney asks (in a loud voice), "Mom, so what are you and me going to do why Jaxon and (whispers) Baylor get their hair cut?" I thought it was very smart of her to clue in that he was still getting the hair cut!

Delaney has ditched Baby Abby for a new sleep toy- her purse! Aunt Julie gave her a purse for her birthday and she carries it many places. But most of all, she always has it when she goes to bed. One time she woke up after being in bed a few hours. Rick was still awake. He said the tired little girl got up, carrying her blanket with her purse over her shoulder. Every morning, as I wake her up to go to Nana's she has to take her purse. Even half asleep, as I pick her up she insists we search for the purse before we go.

Carnival

You had a blast at the carnival. You were so excited! Baylor loved the ferris wheel and Delaney and Jax loved the Tilt-a-whirl. In fact, you rode it three times back to back. I can't believe you weren't sick.

Trampoline

You are loving your trampline. Mommy and Daddy have also enjoyed the trampoline. The weather has been beautiful this week. So, as soon as we get home, you guys have been playing outside. It's nice to see you outside. I've been using the baby monitor to keep an eye on you guys outside. You have some pretty fascinating conversations with each other when mommy's not around.

A virus has struck the house. Being sick is nothing new but for the first time, Baylor was the first to catch something and spread it around. He's usually the last to be sick. It didn't keep him down for long. Now, Delaney's not feeling well. I'm sure Jax will have his turn in a day or so.

Birthday Party

We had your 4th birthday at BounceU. You had a great time playing on all the inflatables with your friends. Even the adults managed to have some fun!
As always with a celebration for theree, it was a little crazy but you enjoyed opening all of your gifts. You received money from family so that you can purchase a DVD player for the car and a trampoline. You received many DVD's , books, and games from friends. Uncle Patrick and Aunt Julie bought you an Easel.
Delaney was as excited to get gifts as she was to pass out goody bags.
Jax described it as "the best birthday ever"!
